The Christian life is designed as a dependent life. Mankind was never intended to walk alone and without fellowship. God has given us the instrument of prayer to fulfill His will of having fellowship with His children. The hope for this years theme, “Without Ceasing”, is that we would be inspired to new heights in our relationship with God. It is a hope that we will cultivate a link that is always connected.
As we enter our 9th year at Abide, we are eager to live out the idea found in John 15 – Abide in Christ and He in us. Prayer gives us the opportunity to enjoy such a life.
The following is a breakdown of this year’s sermon series.
Series 1 – “Are You Ok With God’s Will?”
The Humility of Prayer
A successful prayer life begins with a surrendered life. Many Christians attempt to pray without first desiring the Fathers will. Prayer then becomes a selfish task that seeks only what the individual wants and not the will of God. This series will focus on the need for humility in prayer.
Series 2 – “What Are My Options?”
The Alternative to Prayer
Why Pray? Many people don’t see the importance of a life of prayer even when history has proven that God blesses prayer. This series will seek to challenge the believer to understand that the alternative to prayer is a shallow life.
Series 3 – “My God Can Do The Impossible!”
The Worshipfulness of Prayer
Every Christian should be growing in their faith. One of the most practical ways to increase our faith is through prayer. At the same time, we benefit from our growing faith because it leads to greater worship. As God builds our faith, we become more capable worshipers. Praise and thanksgiving become natural responses for the work God does in us. As our faith grows in prayer so does our worship of God.
Series 4 – “Friends Forever”
The Fellowship of Prayer
Looking for a friend? Tired of a lonely world? Why keep facing such a hopeless life? If you are a born-again believer, you have eternal access to a devoted friend. He has promised to never leave you. In prayer, we find a friendship that that goes beyond anything this world can offer.
Series 5 – “Power Up!”
The Power of Prayer
The prayers of God’s people have always preceded the greatest works of God. Our world needs God’s people to pray. The power of God is found in prayer. Let our prayers of faith open the floodgates of Heaven.
